Southport Sailing Club is a friendly, community-based sailing and watersports club located on the shores of Southport Marine Lake. Established in 1959, the club has a long history of supporting sailing in Southport and welcomes both experienced sailors and people looking to get on the water for the first time.
As an RYA-accredited training centre, Southport Sailing Club provides sailing instruction for adults and juniors across a range of ability levels, alongside dinghy racing, cruising, windsurfing and powerboat training. The club runs a varied sailing calendar throughout the year, ranging from relaxed social sailing to handicap racing and open competitions.
The Marine Drive clubhouse includes changing and shower facilities, training rooms, a galley, lounge and bar, with boat storage and access directly alongside the lake. The club also has an active social side and provides new members with access to its training fleet, making it possible to get involved without already owning a boat.
Southport Sailing Club is also home to the National Junior 12 Hour Race, an annual endurance sailing event held at the Marine Lake that attracts junior sailing teams from across the UK.
